Week 4 Recap

Last week of having three games.  I am sure you parents are thanking the Lord, I know I am.  We have been blessed these 4 weeks finishing out 9-0, WOW.  I am truly so proud of how they are working together and improving as a whole team.  Our turnovers are going down and rebounds up.  Let’s finish before Christmas in time for a 10-0 record.

Here are some shout outs:

D. Pierce had a good start to the week hitting 9-10 free throws at Corinth Holders. With J. H. Rose she had 9 rebounds and scored 15 points.

B. Griffith, freshman, had a turning point in her varsity season becoming a key player on defense rebounding and causing opponents turnovers.

I. Sutton, another freshman, came off an ankle injury this week.  She put up 6, 6, and 4 points but more importantly forced steals and handled the ball in pressure.

Baby D, AKA D. Lucas showed some growth this week in practice and earned some playing time in which she pulled down 2 rebounds. I am so proud of her hard work.

K.Kent had a BIG week with 2 double double’s. One against J. H. Rose with 17pts 10 rebounds and the other Beddingfield 11 pts 12 rebounds.  She was named Player of The Game twice.

T. Smith had a season high with 18 pts against Beddingfield.

B. Lee had a great defensive week with J. H. Rose shutting down their leading scorer again and causing some trouble for #10 at Beddingfield.

And let’s not forget our Manager Michaela Evans who passed her Biology test this week.

Next week we have an away game versus Kinston before heading off to break.  It is expected to be a tough game.  I hope to see you there and keep the prayers coming.

Week 2 Recap

While we have played 6 games we are only in week 2.  Can you believe it?  Three games a week have been rough and next week is not any  better.  We are away at Corinth Holders Tuesday, away at J. H. Rose Wednesday and host Beddingfield at home Friday. I know its another busy week for the lady warriors.  If you have seen use play we are pretty good at being busy.  Our winning streak has increased to 6-0.

Coming of last year’s record of only winning 4 games, the girls are very proud of the streak.  I was not here for that season but I can testify that this year’s team is a whole another team.  Returning players are stepping up their game with five new freshmen ready to take their spots.  The competition level has risen and I love the intensity.  We have so many talented players on the team.  Every player has a unique skill contribution.

Some special shout outs this week:

T. Smith scored 18pts vs. Cleveland and  9pts. vs. S. Central.  T. Smith was sick this week and missed game 5 against J.H.Rose.

B.Lee had a great defensive shut down on Wednesday vs. J.H.Rose.

B. Tucker scored 10, 10, 7 points this week and leads the team with a 52% in field goal shooting.  She also totals 10 assists and 13 steals for the season also leading the team.

S. Spells got her first double point game with 11 pts. vs. Cleveland.

D. Pierce and K.Kent are tied with 25 rebounds to date. D. Pierce earned first double points per game against J.H Rose with 10pts. Against S. Central she put up 14pts. with 7 rebounds.

K.Kent was name scholar athlete of the week for currently maintaining an A average and being a talented player.  She also earned her first double double for the season this week with 13pts. and 12 rebs. against S. Central.  To finish the week she hit the game winning basket.

The funny thing is that fans haven’t even seen all their capabilities yet.  With continued hard work the possibilities of this team are endless. Something fans don’t know is that our entire team, in the past two weeks, have battled injuries and illnesses.  It started with toes and allergies and now wrist and flu/colds.  It seems like every game someone has been suffering thru something.  We have yet to have  a game where everyone is 100% healthy.

So continue to come support us and bring a friend, because the best has yet to come.

5 games in

Well fans, the Lady Warriors are 5 games into the season with 5 wins.  This last game with J.H. Rose was a nail bitter.  Having our  Point guard T. Smith out with a cold/flu really created a challenge.  But our freshmen, Brianna Tucker and Bria Griffith, rose to the occasion.  Defensively our senior, Bryson Lee, caused havoc for the Rampants leading guard.  We still have a long road ahead of us but we will continue to work hard and improve every game.  We look forward to seeing you at the games and cheering us on.
